Dubai is one of the top 30 cities in the world to live, work and play in, according to a survey by US-based Fast Company magazine.

The magazine, known for identifying innovative new technologies, strategies, trends and companies, picked Dubai as one of the three ‘unexpected oases’ cities in the survey. Other cities in the category included Istanbul (Turkey) and Sydney (Australia).

It remarked: “Part Vegas, part Miami, part New York, Dubai aspires to become a juggernaut where capitalism can be the one true faith.” Other cities in the list include Shanghai, New York, Toronto and London. No other Middle East city was included in the list.

The US-city centric survey chose the 30 global cities on account of their creative and business flair and cultural exuberance. “We call them Fast Cities. They are cauldrons of creativity where the most important ideas and the organizations of tomorrow are centred. They attract the best and brightest. They are great places to work and live,” the Fast Company article states.
